Openly gay West Hollywood City Councilmen John Duran and John D’Amico were sworn in as mayor and mayor pro tempore, respectively, of West Hollywood during the city’s annual City Council Reorganization and Installation meeting at 1OAK on Monday.

Singer/Songwriter Eddie Money administered Mayor Duran’s oath of office and Hollywood City Clerk Yvonne Quarker administered Mayor Pro Tempore D’Amico’s oath of office.

After the meeting, a reception followed at Rainbow Bar & Grill. Both the ceremony and reception had the theme #RESIST and included specially commissioned #RESIST signs by artist Shepard Fairey.

Duran, who has lived in West Hollywood since 1990, will be serving his fourth term as mayor. D’Amico has lived in West Hollywood for 25 years and previously served one term as mayor from 2014-2015.
