ABC is considering restructuring its “Roseanne” reboot to focus on Darlene, played by Sara Gilbert.
Roseanne Barr’s tweets about Valerie Jarrett led to the show’s cancelation, but according to TMZ, there is hope for the show’s continuation in a different form. The new reboot would have Darlene as the main character in place of Roseanne.
Gilbert, who also executive produced the reboot, reportedly has been reaching out to the show’s cast members about working on the show. Sources told TMZ that John Goodman is “very interested.”
According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC will have a meeting this week to explore other options for the show. Any spinoff ideas “have to be without Roseanne Barr, and the actress and former head writer of the sitcom would not be able to financially benefit from any new incarnation of the series.”
