Sharon Needles channeled Kathy Griffin’s bloody Donald Trump photo shoot during a drag performance in Pittsburgh this week.
Needles dressed in a similar brown pants and blue shirt outfit that Griffin dons in the now infamous photo shoot. The performance included a lip-sync of “Heads Will Roll” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The “severed” head used is reportedly an Owen Wilson mask with a Joan Rivers wig.
“It’s kind of mind boggling the levels to this story,” Needles told World of Wonder. “That a female comic in this day and age, who was a friend of Joan Rivers, and who was on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ with our president, is subjected to this type of abuse. I mean if only Joan was still around. And the fact that we don’t hold our male politicians to the same standard as female comedians is shocking.”
Griffin’s photo shoot resulted in numerous stand-up comedy show cancellations and the loss of an endorsement deal with Squatty Potty. CNN also fired the comedian from co-hosting the network’s New Year’s Eve special with Anderson Cooper.
