The Diamond Producers Association’s “Real is Rare” ad campaign is telling romantic love stories targeted at millennials including one lesbian couple.
In “A Girl Like You,” two women meet at a wedding and start to fall in love. The commercial follows the couple as they dance, eat cake and start a bonfire.
“I don’t know what tomorrow is going to bring but the future is so much more exciting with a girl like you in it,” the voiceover says.
According to Forbes, the “Real is Rare” campaign is an effort to market diamonds to millennials. Instead of equating diamonds with forever relationships and engagements, the campaign presents diamonds simply as a gift for a loved one.
