Justin Timberlake is officially performing at the 2018 Superbowl halftime show but the announcement has led some to speculate that Janet Jackson could also make her Superbowl comeback.

A source close to Jackson told ET that Jackson would take the stage with Timberlake if he invited her.

“The door is wide open,” the source says. “If Justin or his team did reach out, Janet would perform with him again in a minute.”

The last time the pair performed together on the Superbowl stage, Timberlake ripped off Jackson’s top resulting in the now infamous “Nipplegate.” While Timberlake appears to have been forgiven, rumors swirled that Jackson was banned by the NFL.

The NFL denies there being a ban but also says there are no current plans for her to join Timberlake.

“There’s no ban,” an NFL spokesperson told ET. “We are not going to comment on any speculation regarding potential guests. There may be no guests. Along with Pepsi, we’re excited to have Justin Timberlake.”

Timberlake also assured viewers on Sunday Night Football that “Nipplegate” was a one-time occurrence.

“That won’t happen this time,” Timberlake told NBC sports anchor Mike Tirico.
