Amazon is investigating “Transparent” star Jeffrey Tambor for a sexual harassment allegation from his former assistant.
Van Barnes, a 42-year-old transgender actress, made the claim in a private Facebook post, according to Deadline. Barnes appeared in a 2016 episode of “I Am Cait” when Caitlyn Jenner and her friends visited Barnes’ husband’s motorcycle shop.
Barnes told the Hollywood Reporter she has “no comment” about the details of the accusation. Tambor denies the claim calling it a “baseless accusation.”
“I adamantly and vehemently reject and deny any and all implication and allegation that I have ever engaged in any improper behavior toward this person or any other person I have ever worked with. I am appalled and distressed by this baseless allegation,” Tambor told Deadline.
Amazon told the Hollywood Reporter that the investigation is in the “very early” stages. Series creator Jill Soloway also told the Hollywood Reporter that everyone is cooperating with the investigation.
“Anything that would diminish the level of respect, safety and inclusion so fundamental to our workplace is completely antithetical to our principles. We are cooperating with the investigation into this matter,” Jill Soloway, the series’ creator, told the Hollywood Reporter.
Amazon has faced sexual misconduct allegations in its camp before. Former Amazon programming chief Roy Price resigned following a sexual misconduct claim from “Man in the High Castle” executive producer Isa Hackett Dick.
